TB036 NonZero! - Matrix Equation Planning the imminent arrival of the 50th release on Touchin’ Bass, label boss Andrea Parker was digging through the warehouse during a stock take and it became apparent that there was something missing. A gap in the catalogue numbers. Where was TB036? Searching the archives it transpired that, for one reason or another (not least Parker’s inability to count), there actually wasn’t one. So what better way to backfill this now documented gap than to welcome the multitalented guitarist and drummer, mathematician and multidisciplinary improviser Maria Gamboa Perez into the Touchin’ Bass fold with an updated focus for 2019. TB049 Rook Vallade - Vestiges Perhaps best known under his aliases Dalglish and O.S.T., Chris Douglas has been operating under the mainstream for the last 24 years, releasing on labels like Pan, Icasea, Phthalo, Highpoint Lowlife, Shitkatapult and many others. This time we’re presenting the less familiar work of his moniker ‘Rook Vallade’ with a collection of his as yet unheard works from 1992-2000 – a very welcome addition to the Touchin’ Bass catalogue. TB048 Dead Fader - Dosage EP British Born and now based in Berlin, Dead Fader aka John Cohen, most known for his work on Robot Elephant Records and the brilliant collaboration with Sensational on the ‘Work It, No’ EP, now joins the Touchin’ Bass roster with the ‘Dosage’ EP; a heavy duty, unrepentant body of work that exposes John’s diversity. Easing you in gently is ‘Booze Lair’; a slow building, infernal, smacked out foray that is both biting and compelling, followed by ‘Tired’; a fiercely adrenaline-charged, dynamic workout that moves and mutates, heavily laced with abrasive textures. The title track ‘Dosage’ is a straight up slice, filled with cranks and grinds which jars and grates, punctuated with weighty subversive beats and a low res undertone, followed by the calm after the storm; ‘Easy Sun’. An epic piece, pushing distortion to the max. No nonsense, this is one heavy slab of vinyl. Solid! Listen/Buy |

TB046 Rewire - Part A ‘Rewire - Part A’ is a digital album of 13 tracks that came about through a Kickstarter project curated by Rob Swain (Gamma Proforma) and Andrea Parker (Touchin' Bass / aperture records) featuring tracks from Cristian Vogel, Luke Vibert, Arovane, Kero, Einoma, EVAC, Andrea Parker & Daz Quayle, Plaster, Quinoline Yellow, Bogger, Dalglish, Ed Devane and Clatterbox. In 2014, an international line up of visual artists created works which were interpreted sonically by audio artists, effectively reversing the common record model where the artist creates an image to capture the mood of the music. The art and interpretations were exhibited at the Gamma Transport Division during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The visual works came from a curated line up of abstract urban artists from Gamma Proforma. The audio artists were selected from the vein of experimental electronic music. Having always wanted to curate, collaborate and combine all things art and electronics this project was the perfect solution. The experience of viewing a painting can be altered profoundly when combined with sound, yet it's rarely presented this way. Rewire is all about pictures of sound, a collection that sought to challenge the audio artists, giving them a reason to write. Listening to each interpretation is like stepping into the art, immersing yourself and not wanting to come back to reality. Strictly limited edition box set including book and 3 x 12” vinyl available in 2015. Keep an eye open... Listen/Buy |

TB045 Arovane - Aarlenpeers EP Having been a long-term admirer of Arovane’s work, it’s with some excitement that Touchin’ Bass brings you its latest release. Anyone reading this should already know the artist in question and, if you don't, where the hell have you been for the last 15 years?! Arovane is an internationally acclaimed composer and pioneer of electronic music who has already contributed so much to the electronic scene to date. After a career built on forward thinking, these two tracks written for Touchin' Bass are somewhat more mathematical and futuristic. It’s a style that he seems to have shifted towards naturally. This release is packed with several substantial punches, frenzied beats and, as always, leaves a lasting impression. Listen/Buy |

TB044 MKFN - SUBSTRATE EP Touchin’ Bass takes a different turn this time by introducing you to newcomers MKFN, a live production project formed in 2012 by Babar Raza (US), Ovais Hassan (UK) and Fahad Ahmad (Canada). Over the course of the year they have designed a system that allows them to create music across borders that has been defined as experimental, dark and gritty. The collective integrates each member’s extensive musical background gained from working across multiple genres. This unique combination invites distinctive sounds into the studio forming the foundation for MKFN’s characteristic sound. Opening with ‘Substrate’ we get our first glimpse of their pitch-black landscape, with a pounding beat and sweeping electronics shimmering into play. ‘Resin’ comes knocking next like a hundred steelworkers crashing on anvils to awaken your senses. The thunder continues with ‘Xi’ as it scrapes at your eardrums with its crackling rhythm before the almost sci-fi feel of ‘Vessel’, which ends the vinyl version of this release. As a bonus track on the digital version, ‘Foundry’ packs its own punch with faster beats, but no less depth and darkness in the grove. Listen/Buy |

TB041 Quinoline Yellow - Palisade Mount EP Touchin' Bass is once again emerging from the shadows, pushing forward into the future of electronica to bring a new lease of life back into the scene, starting with Luke Williams who has released an extensive catalogue of electronic music under his Quinoline Yellow and Tatamax pseudonyms which are predominantly found on SKAM as well as his own imprint Uchelfa.
